The female and male a cappella groups at Marist College, The Lovely Sirens and Time Check respectively, perform a joint concert at the end of every Spring semester.
House designs were tailored to a “love” theme and included headshots formatted like the popular dating app, Tinder, which were hanging on the back wall of the theater and a pseudo-photo booth, which was stationed in the reception room across from the theater entrance for people to enjoy during intermission along with light refreshments.
The process included room reservations, snack and beverage orders, as well as a decent amount of crafting and branding. Both groups decided on a red and pink color palette to go along with the “love” theme and it is reflected in the program (which was done by another student) and the decor for the reception space.
As the crafting process for the reception and house design ensued, I used the group’s Twitter account (@TheLovelySirens) to post promotional photos with links to the Facebook event which had instructions on how to reserve tickets.
The process required communication and cooperation between the two groups which was coordinated via Facebook. Additionally, the Marist College Music Department supplied workspace and resources for the planning and execution of the event.
